AUDIOLOGY ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
At HearSmart Audiology, the supervising audiologist will have the primary responsibility of training, directing and overseeing all clinical, technical and administrative duties performed by the Audiology Assistant. The following duties are listed below but are not limited to:

AUDIOLOGY ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
At HearSmart Audiology, the supervising audiologist will have the primary responsibility of training, directing and overseeing all clinical, technical and administrative duties performed by the Audiology Assistant. The following duties are listed below but are not limited to:
- Hearing aid clean and checks including changing domes, filters, cleaning microphones, using Redux, performing listening checks, changing tubing, etc.
- Prepare and program hearing aids being picked up after repair, for hearing aid fittings, hearing aid trials, CI and Baha evaluations.
- Performing assistance during audiological evaluations for adult and pediatric patients.
- Responsible for rooming patients and taking patient case history.
- Entering stock hearing aids and other equipment into Blueprint Solutions electronic medical records system.
- Completes troubleshooting procedures on hearing technology devices, recommending repairs, and drafting requests for authorization of parts and repairs.
- Enter audiogram data into NOAH as needed.
- Instruct patients and families in the use of hearing technology equipment, including cleaning, charging, inserting hearing aids as well as assisting with ALD and Bluetooth pairing to smartphones, etc.
- Enters data into databases for research purposes, and extracts data as needed.
- Check in hearing technology equipment.
- Produces and maintains a variety of statistical records, reports, forms, schedules and other materials.
- Maintains assigned supplies. Assures accurate inventory of supplies based on approved levels. Rotates stock as required. Orders supplies as needed such as hearing aid batteries, receivers, domes and filters, impression material, cleaning supplies, etc.
- Maintaining organization and infection control of clinical equipment and toys, clinical and research files, records and marketing material.
- Organizing and stocking consultation rooms, lab area, waiting area and sound booth.
- Social media marketing for the business such as managing and adding relevant content to the business Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube pages, etc.
- Light office cleaning including vacuuming, dusting, water plants, removing trash.
- Greeting and checking in scheduled and walk-in patients; assisting them with completing intake paperwork.
- Answering phone calls, taking messages, registering new patients, scheduling appointments, confirming appointments and appointment reminders.
- Informing patients about new technology and services available to them such as Caption Call telephone.
- Receiving patient payments for services and goods and producing receipts.
- Biological listening checks of equipment.
- Scanning and shredding medical records, PHI while maintaining HIPAA standards.
- Maintaining loaner hearing aid bank.
- Registering hearing technology with manufacturers.
- Assisting with marketing such as birthday cards, thank you notes, upgrade letters, satisfaction surveys, etc.
- Stuffing, stamping and mailing envelopes and packages.

- possess an associate’s degree in Speech-language Pathology or Audiology from a training program approved by a national certifying body; or
- possess a bachelor’s degree with a major in Speech-language Pathology or Audiology; or
- possess a bachelor’s degree and a certificate from a Board approved Speech-language Pathology or Audiology assistant program; or
- possess an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree, and demonstrate having successfully completed 18 semester credit hours of coursework in Speech-language Pathology and/or Audiology, six of which must be in disorders of speech, language, or hearing; or other coursework as the Board may approve.

AUDIOLOGIST JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Audiologists follow best practices and serve all ages of the population. Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnostic hearing evaluations including immittance testing, oto-acoustic emissions, specialized speech recognition tests such as QuickSIN, AZ Bio Sentence test, etc.
- Diagnosing and treating hearing loss; recommending appropriate, individualized hearing loss treatment including the selection, fitting, procurement, dispensing and maintenance of amplification, including custom and bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA), hearing aid accessories, FM Systems, assistive listening devices (ALDs) and custom earmolds.
- Electroacoustic verification and Real Ear Measurement (REM).
- Cochlear implant evaluations and map optimization for Cochlear Americas and Advanced Bionics devices (training available if needed).
- Hearing conservation including custom hearing protection devices and musician's plugs.
- In-office repairs and cleaning of hearing aids; ordering, sending and receiving repaired devices; ordering hearing aid supplies as needed.
- Partake in continuing education and complete all necessary training to maintain knowledge and skills needed to perform the job.
- Participate in all aspects of business growth and development including marketing, which may at times require participation in events outside of the normal business hours such as wellness fairs, providing hearing screenings at senior centers and delivering public educational presentations.
- Graduate student supervision and precepting.
- Audiology Assistant training and supervision.
- Participate in monthly team meetings.
- Occasionally assisting with front office administrative duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
- Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree
- Massachusetts Audiology License
- CCC-A and Board Certification optional
- Will consider:
- Master’s degree in Audiology
- Graduate student extern (4th year)
- Highly qualified, licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS)
